Thank you for joining the conversation on the proposed development charges by-law and background study.
All municipalities must pass a by-law to set development charges for different types of development. Before passing a development charge by-law, a municipality must prepare a development charge background study as set out in the Development Charges Act, 1997.
Development charges are fees imposed on land development and redevelopment projects. These fees are collected from developers at the time an approved building permit is being issued and they help to pay for the cost of capital infrastructure to support new growth. In essence, development charges help ensure that "growth pays for growth". Examples of services include but are not limited to roads, community centres and fire.
On Wednesday July 10, 2024, the Township of Puslinch will hold a public meeting, pursuant to section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, as amended, to present and obtain public input on the municipality's proposed development charges (D.C.) by-law and underlying background study.
Before completing the survey, please review the 2024 Development Charge Background Study and proposed Development Charges By-law in the attachment provided. Please note the survey closes on July 19th at 12:00 p.m.
