Additional Residential Units (ARU's)
Thank you for joining the conversation about Additional Residential Units in the Township of Puslinch.
Additional Residential Units are self-contained residential units with separate kitchen, bathroom and sleeping facilities. These units are subordinate in scale and function to the main residence on the property
In response to Bill 108 the County of Wellington amended its Official Plan in November of 2020 to permit:
- an Additional Residential Unit in the principal building (single detached dwelling, semi-detached dwelling or rowhouse)
- and an Additional Residential Unit in an ancillary building to a principal dwelling (single detached dwelling, semi-detached dwelling or rowhouse)
This results in a total of three dwelling units on a property (i.e. a primary dwelling and two Additional Residential Units)
In response to these changes, the Township of Puslinch is reviewing the Township's Zoning By-law to bring the by-law into conformity with the County of Wellington's Official Plan and the Planning Act.
The Township will be holding a statutory Public meeting on April 13, 2022. You can register for the Public Meeting here. In addition to the Public meeting the Township is seeking feedback through the survey below.
